The Coalition to Bring Black Rock City Sensibilities Home
Presents:

The

BE NICE

Party

Enjoy Fresh Drinks, Quiet Ambient Grooves, Delicious Food.

Why a BE NICE Party:
We wanted to create a way to bring BRC home. We noticed on the playa that fellow Black Rock City residents can be exceptionally kind, nice, and friendly; eye contact is made, genuine smiles exchanged, giving and receiving. So we wanted to bring that experience home. We are creating a safe space to say hello to someone new (or old), look people in the eyes and hold the gaze without threat or expectation ... interact and share ... or to not do any of that at all if you don't feel like it. Nothing is mandatory ... except that you BE NICE.

What this event is NOT:
This is not a workshop. There are no games to foster intimacy, discussion groups or anything like that. It is not mandatory that you engage with people; you can attend to simply enjoy the vibes. This is also not a good party to impress people with how cool you might want them to think you are. If you go out to clubs to pose and put off a celebrity vibe, then this one isn't for you. And don't come just to find and join your friends; be an individual, not a clique. Talk to someone new.

What this event IS:
A low-key public event to be open, friendly, ready to engage or look someone in the eyes ... merely to say "hello" or to go all out and have a longer conversation. It's a place where you can draw your boundaries and not have to defend them. Where you can make eye contact without it being "cruisy" or threatening, and without it meaning something other than just making eye contact. A place to BE NICE, be kind, and be open to see what happens. Awesome fresh drinks at the bar. A full dinner menu or just appetizers. Music just loud enough to hear but quiet enough to easily talk over.
And... it's EARLY!
Our disclaimer:
Because sometimes a few bad apples spoil the bunch, we will say this: While we are encouraging interaction, this is not the best environment to "hit" on someone. If you get along well with someone and there are sparks and you decide to meet again -- great. You just made a new connection. But we ask that you will be appropriate in how you choose to interact with others -- meaning no cruising -- this is not the event for it. Keep the sleaze at a minus. Turn down that mojo, jojo.
